After a comeback win in Minnesota that the Royals never did in previous years against Scott “Cy Young” Baker, the internet community gave high fives and butt slaps to Bloomquist, Guillen, Callaspo, and even Meche for not pussin’ out with back problems. All props are well deserved and valid, but the star of the game was not mentioned once. Yes, Alberto Callaspo (my drinking buddy) hit the game leading double to break the game wide open in the 7th and made the 1st out at 3rd base which is a major no-no, but reading signs and speaking English are not his strong points, so I’m going to let it slide. But the biggest play of the game was made before Alberto took the first pitch.
Flashback: Alberto walks to the plate. Jacobs is on second and DeJesus is on first. Nobody out. Minnesota is leading 5-4. Royals are on the road and have a hitter who has 1 career homerun. What do you do? Bunt him right? Wrong. 1st Pitch, bunt sign off. 6 pitches later, Alberto gets a 3-2 fastball and drives it to the gap.
The star of the game is the coach, Trey “Hairy-balls” Hillman for not putting on the bunt and allowing Callaspo to swing away. Say what you may about our hairy little friend’s bad bullpen decisions, but don’t be shy to give credit where it’s due.
Who the hell is Rick Porcello? He sounds like a used car salesman out of work. If the Royals bullpen blows another save in the 8th inning again, I’m going to fly Kobayashi from Japan to eat all of Miguel Cabrera’s Cheesy Double Beef Burritos.
Royals win 9-1 while Jose Guillen checks out the new tail on the bench.
Anyway, the Kansas City Sports Podcast is going to be there, will you? We will have our own beer Buck Night in the parking lot and then stuff our faces inside.
GmailBlog shows its hatred of Royals Pitcher Farnsworth and calls him “Grumpy”. See image below:

If you haven’t noticed already, Sports Talk Radio personality Neil Jones was replaced from 610 Sports recently. By “default”, The Chris and Cowboy segment is moved to the afternoon slot. Was this not the most predictable move in the history of the world? Neil Jones was awful, but it’s not necessarily his fault. He was in the slot by “default” that he had no business doing. And 610 (Entercom) wonders why they get killed in ratings by a mediocre 810 WHB. Why don’t they just fire or piss off everyone? Oh wait, they’ve done that already. Here, here, here, and here (this was a no brainer). But not one of those former hosts (Jason Whitlock or Damon Amendolara) was qualified enough to battle in the afternoon slot? OF COURSE THEY COULD HAVE! They both were original hosts who with time would of easily taken control of the market, but the executives at Entercom continue to show that they have NO IDEA how to identify talent and keep it.
The Kansas Jayhawks Men’s Basketball Team secured the first part of the puzzle in winning a 2010 NCAA National Championship with Collins and Aldrich announcing their return for the 2009-10 season. Also last week, Tyrone Appleton and Quintrell Thomas are seeking to transfer after this Spring semester. This may seem like a minor detail, but it’s just another step in opening up scholarships for top recruits Xavier Henry and Lance Stephenson. Even Lawrence native Brady Morningstar is rumored to give up his scholarship to make room for new recruits.
If KU completes the deal in aquiring both Henry and Stephenson, you can find me in Vegas betting on the Hawks with 25/1 odds. “I liiiiiiiike”.
The Royals fans decided to show up, but the Royals hitters didn’t. I think Pettitte was struggling at times to throw strikes, its just that the Royals hitters didn’t realize that and kept swinging at balls.
Royals lose to the Yanks 4-1.
I could really go for a Pepsi right about now.

- “You just got Mexicutioned bitch!”
2 wins and 1 lost. Series taken.
Bring on the 1-2 Yanks!
I’m too upset to give a detailed analysis of the game. The obvious is that Kyle Farnsworth is going to sleep alone tonight. Not even the Chicago Chinatown massage parlors will except his 2yr/$9mil contract money. Of all the bad things he could of done, walked 4 guys, give up a solo-homer, get kicked out of the game… he does the worst and GIVES UP A 3-RUN HOMER! At least tackle Jim Thome after he crosses home plate or something. That would of made it a little bit more bearable.
The other side to the lost is the 11 LOBs by the team who hit a League leading 56 homeruns in Spring Training. Maybe someone should tell Mike Jacobs popping a ball up doesn’t mean a homerun in Chicago and if Billy Butler is going to go 0-4 with 5 LOBs, his wife is not going to make his favorite Corn Dog Casserole anymore.
Ok, that felt nice. Now I have to give props to the two guys I’ve been ragging on. Alex Gordon showed he’s not as “pull-happy” as previous years with a deep homerun to center and Mark Teahen looked like a well balanced hitter at the plate, but he still shouldn’t be in the 3rd slot and can’t power arms. We’ll discuss more in the podcast.
After a Siberian-like winter storm that came through the South-Side of Chicago on Monday, the Kansas City Royals opened their 2009 MLB Season with a game against the Chicago White Sox today. The Royals lineup included new faces such as Covelli “Coco” Crisp and Mike “Anthrax” Jacobs. But people with access to the FS Kansas City TV broadcast, got an unpleasant surprise when FSKC’s Colorman Paul Splitorff decided to TALK. It must of been a wild night on Monday’s canceled day because Splitorff sounded like he had 10 cocktails, his wisdom teeth pulled, and contracted the Bird Flu all in one night. I think it took me literally two innings to figure out who was talking. For those who say he’s a “gamer” for showing up, I say they’re wrong and probably deaf. Give me boring Bob Davis, give me the live radio feed. Hell, give me Kermit the Frog. Maybe he’ll do a couple tunes from The Muppets Take Manhattan. I’d listen to that.
